I have quite a bit of video content on my computer.

All different types of formats (AVI, RM, etc) and often all types of CODECs.

Most of the stuff, I can play on my Mac Powerbook (I have an old laptop which I use as a dedicated wireless music/iTunes server), but I am interested in watching some of it on my TV. I have at times connected by Mac via some type of analog video connection via S-video. 

But, I am looking for sometime a little more robust (and not 10,000 euro).  I really dont have need for live streaming (YouTube) or content on demand - just some of the old junk I have on my computer.

Any thoughts?  Is this the application for an Apple TV?  Not sure I want to spend that much for a MacMini?
