    need Help with Pentas III active, use as passiv possible?

    Hello,

    i'm a new owner of a B&O produkt and proud of it but i need some help of you professinals.

    can i use the Pentas III active also in passiv? Is it like this that i can take the amp out of it and use them as Beovox Pentas?

    sorry if this quetions sound strange...

    Yep, that is possible, you can detatch the amp (at the bottom of the speaker) from the rest of the speaker  and connect the two binding-posts to a normal (and powerfull) amp if you wish. The bottom plate (feet) should work fine with the amp off too.

    But why would you want that, if I may ask?

    thank you so much.

    Well i have the possibility to buy either the Pentas III aktiv or the passiv ones.

    my concern was if i buy the activ ones what happens if the amp doesent work anymore?

    sure i will use the amp!

    Yes Mathias, as Chr said, the amp can be disconnected from the bottom.  The speaker column actually sits on top of the amp section, and 5 long threaded rods go through the base, amp, and speaker to hold the sections together.  If you unscrew the 5 nuts underneath, you can slide the pieces apart.  You'd then need to get some shorter threaded rods and slide just the base back unto the speaker, without the amp between them.

    I have my own hope of someday building a class-A amp and powering my pentas with that!
