    Beocenter 9500 Timer Function

    Hi:

I recently started to use the Timer function on the 9500. I notice that when I disable the timer mode, the BC9500 still comes on at the preset time however in muted mode.

Is this normal? What if I'm going on vacation and don't want the unit to come on at all, surely it doesn't make sense to clear all of the presets?

    Ideas?

    Thanks,

    Derek

That is normal - it would still switch on any connected link rooms. Just unplug the unit at the mains. It should retain your programmes for your return though you will need to reset the clock.

Actually it is a very useful anti burglar device - you can have the radio switching on and off and if you have them, you can get the 9500 to control light control units as well. In a link system, this can work though out the house.

    Peter:

    Thanks for the reply.

So there is no way to keep the 9500 off short of clearing all of the programs or unplugging the unit?

Is there a way to program the timer to turn off the radio after a certain time? So say on at 7 am off at 8 am? At least this way it won't be on all day?

You can certainly set it to switch off - simply program the unit to play Stand-by at the relevant time. If you have a Beolink 7000 you can also suspend timers but I don't think you can do it directly on the set. Why not just unplug it? It will save on electricity anyway!

    Re: Beocenter 9500 Timer Function

    Hi Peter:

Well lets say I plan to use it as an alarm to wake me up during the work week (5 days) and on the weekends I'm out of town. That means every Friday, I'd have unplug it so that it doesn't come on on Saturday and stay on during weekend.

It's kinda silly. You should be able to just disable it like you would a an alarm clock for the day or days that you don't want your alarm clock to come on.

    Am I missing something?

You can do that - just set the Beocentre to play standby on the days you are not there at the time it would normally switch on. It won't play then! Have you got the manual? It is on site. If you have the Beolink 7000, it is even better as you can set it to play in almost anyway you wish. Different days or even dates. You can also skip or suspend programs. However as it is, you can certainly stop it playing at week ends if you are away. I thought you meant you were away for a couple of weeks!

    Re: Beocenter 9500 Timer Function

Does the week-end stopping surely work for the 9500?

As I read in the manuals only the 9300 support entering days (1 to 7 for mo through fri).

What if you don't own a BL 7000? Just a BL 1000 or Beo 4?

    Thanks

    Peter,

    Thanks for your reply.

I do have the manual, but I couldn't get the unit to function as I want it to. Let me play with it some more.

    P.S. Looks like I need a BL7000 :)

I would definitely agree with that! I originally bought a 9500 just so I could have a Beolink 7000! Still my favourite remote control system!

    Hi Ralf!

The week-end stopping works for sure on the BC9500 (at least it does work on mine) but you'll need to program the timer with a two-way remonte (idealy the BL7000). Using an two-way remonte is, as far as I know, the only way to choose certain days when setting a weekly timer on the BC9500.

What if you don't own a BL 7000? Just a BL 1000 or Beo 4?

In order to fully use the BC9500's timer capabilitys you definetely need a two-way remonte. With a one-way remonte (as Beo4 and BL1000) you cannot acces the necessary programming options.

I strongly recommend using a two-way remonte with a BC9500 (or any other two-way system)... the best way to use the full potential of theese systems.

    cheers

    Foxtrott:

These extra programming features that you talk about, are the a feature of the BL7000 or are they native to the 9500?

In other words would ANY 2 way remote work?

The other way to look at it is if I programmed the BC 9500 using a 2 way remote and then hid the the BL7000 under my bedsheets would the 9500 still know when to turn on or does it rely strictly on the BL7000 to control it?

    Re: Beocenter 9500 Timer Function

Derek, once you have set up the timers, you can do what you like with the BL7000. The programming is stored in the Beomaster.
Sometimes this causes a problem when a Beomaster is sold without a remote. The recipient can't get rid of the timed events!
They then query why their radio comes on for no apparent reason. They think it's haunted!

    Thanks Andy!

I'm amazed at how sophisticated this thing.

Looks like I need to get a 2 way remote! I only have a 100s and BL 4s
