Mystery red dot on Beolink 7000

I have two Beolink 7000's currently sitting in the same room with my Beomaster 4500. When the 4500 does not feel like sending out clock data, the 7000's display the STANDBY red dot on the right side of the display. Interestingly, one of the units also displays a red dot on the LEFT side of the display, symmetrically spaced relative to the right dot. The units work the same otherwise. Anyone know why this might be so?

In a link setup, the red dot on the left indicates that the link room is timer activated.
