    Beosystem 2000 - worth fixing?

I've had a Beosystem 2000 system (3-piece system with amplifier/radio, CD player and cassette.) I purchased in 1988 along with four Beovox 5000 flat panel speakers. The amplifier stopped working and I took it to the local B&O store and was given a quote of $850 to repair.

I can find no information about this system (the 2000 is not listed on this site under the Beosystems) and the staff at the B&O store could not offer any information other than, 'That's a classic."

I'm trying to find out if it is worth repairing at that price. It's a beautiful system that I've enjoyed for 20 years, but I don't know if that would be a waste of money that would be better used towards new equipment. Any insights anyone may have on this system would be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks!

Very expensive! You can get a working one for about $200 or probably less in the UK. It is under receivers in the listings. Try here.

This is a development of the 1900 and later was developed into the 4500. I would consider replacing it with a 3000 which is essentially the same but adds remote control to the party.

Rather pricey for a repair in my opinion. Don't give up after the first try, after all you have a matching system and it sounds like you really like it.

Do you have any idea what is wrong with the amplifier?
