    beolink converter

    hi all,

having nearly "linked" myself to death...

i have errantly purchased a beolink converter, when i needed a ml/mcl converter.

(i bought a bs9000 and was going to use it as a master in an mcl network)

i was curious: if i decide to keep the bs9000 as a stand-alone and not use it in a network, can i use this surplus converter to attach a bg4500 or similar to the bs9000? -to find a use for it...

    Re: beolink converter

As far as I know the Beolink Converter (the small plastic box - not the amp.) will only connect a Beomaster or a Beovision to a ML-network.

So to connect a BG4500 to the BS9000 you would need a master in between. However I am a not sure that you can connect to Master units e.g. a BS9000 to a BM4500, this depends on one of them being able to be set into slave mode. Some one else can clarify this.

    Living room: BV7-40 mkIV + V8000, BL5, BL3, BM1 and BS9000. Bedroom: MX3000 and BL4500 on MCL2-AV. Around: PentaIII, CX100 and MCX35 on ML/MCL + MCL2-A, BeoPort and BL4 on ML, BS3300 + M75 as stand alone, BC6000 + BC600 and BT1100, LC1, LC2, Beo4, Beo5 and BL1000, BS2 and A8, EarSet2, Apron, Coffee mugs, Enamel Bagdes, Bath towel, Keyring, Books, Lots of miniature and the Bottle opener. Office: BC2300 + BL2500 and BS3. Summer house: BS Century.

    Addicted? Oh no.... ;)

The BG4500 din cable will simply plug in to the AUX socket on the BS9000

    Re: beolink converter

    thx all...

i assumed that the ml-to-datalink converter (the function of the beolink converter) would enable the bg to be controlled remotely.

i assume now that the ml port and this converter are simply for network use and have nothing to do w/ local sources (i.e.) an attached bg etc...

so, by plugging the bg in locally -i could expect remote capabilities using a beo4?

i don't know if i'll ever find a use for this "extra."

    thx for the help!

    Re: beolink converter

I am using the Converter to hook the BeoSystem 3 to the MCL network (via an MCL2AV). However, the BS3 is not my audio master. If you decide to purchase a B&O video system you will find use for that.

    Re: beolink converter

well, as my mx5000 has datalink...

i could see using it to attach the mx to the bs9000, and then the correct ml/mcl converter to attach the bs9000 as the audiomaster for an mcl network.

not my original intent, but sounds like it would work.
