What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
Might be a little early for this thread, but I'm sure that most of us, who are making their way through it, have found things they like and things they don't like about the brandnew forum. I like the "fast reply" tool. Was present on the old forum too, but is easier to handle now and looks great. I don't like the smilies! They really look like s**t. What about you?

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
The smilies were standard MicroSoft issue i'm afraid.. It didn't even come with a laughing one, so we brought it over from the old forum. Its certainly something we can have a look at though, but i personally don't want to go for any of the ones that belong on teenage fanclub websites - they just look childish and naff.. Nothing wrong with starting this thread early smito, we are going to use the next 2 weeks to come up with ideas how to improve the site - and when Van gets back from his well earned break we are going to sit down and go through a list of improvements to be made 'en-masse' Once these are done, we can let the site settle down again - then keep tweaking until we have reached a point where everyone agrees things are perfect! Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
I like:
+ fast!
+ nice subscription otions, including rss streams!
+ possibility to put lots of info in one's user profile
I miss:
* a "take me to the oldest unread post in this thread"-function
* to see who has started a thread without haveing to actually load that particular thread. At present, one can only see who's responsible for the latest post in each thread.
* when using the "unread posts/threads" function, one can't see which sub-forums the listed threads belong to.
* forum navigation control at the bottom of each page
* the extended forum tools (those seen on the right side of the page when entering the forum, for example "view unread posts" etc) when I'm viewing a thread
I don't like:
- that the user info area (to the left of each post) is too wide. I'd downsize it to 50-60 % abut keep the width of the actual posts like they are now. I don't maximise my browser windows, and the forum is now a little bit too wide for my preferred browser window width. I guess this isn't a problem for those who maximises their browser windows ;)
- that my linebreaks don't seem to work (I use Safari).

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
I agree with Henrik on these two points.... I miss: * a "take me to the oldest unread post in this thread"-function * to see who has started a thread without haveing to actually load that particular thread. At present, one can only see who's responsible for the latest post in each thread. Especially the first. If they can be done I'd be a happy bunny.

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
Agree with the two above points, view oldest undread post and who created a thread! I'd also like to see a 'striped' finish on the threads list? Makes threads easier to pick out.
Maybe we could have a KillyP shrine too? A little mantlepiece somewhere with a statue of me on it? I think that would be appropriate...

Its a great effort and these suggested modifications will only make a great site even better!

Likes: RSS feed. Makes it easy to keep up-to-date with the posts.
Dislikes: Lack of real meaty B&O Q&A content. But it is early days for this forum.

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
The new webpage format looks good. - The blue background is easier on the eyes. I'm reading the pages on a 42 monitor and upstairs via M-L on a 21 monitor and both come in very distinct. The previous format now seems to have been more of an actuarial report. I can sit back, expand the font size on the keyboard ( Logitech Di Novo Edge ), and read and see everything quite well from 10 m.
- Colour: Finally ! Good contrast.
- I collect and restore older tube radios, including B & O, so the addition of the older " Museum pieces " is very good.
- Poking around the various pages, there is much more offered than before.
- I enjoy the general, non-B&O photos that have started to come in.
- Smilies: I find these a distraction, and ignore them.
- The Inventory of recent B & O equipment, including price is interesting. I know it would require a bit of work, but I would suggest adding I.D. part numbers on all items.
- BEOMEDIA and BEOPORT: Having installed Beoport, I am still discovering the capabilities of these devices. I would like to see some tips offered on better utilizing both devices.
My compliments to Lee and his staff for an excellent ( and no doubt exhausting ) job very well done on the new Beoworld site !

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
Henrik. How eloquently put I totaly agree with all the things you have listed as things you miss. It seems many of us browse using a similar method. I would add that the smileys are so slow and if you want to add more than one you have to open the smiley box over and over again. If I remember correctly, on MK11 Beoworld, one could open the smiley box and drag it to the side of the window so they were on tap permanently. As for the smileys themselves, I think they're great Andy T.

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
I slightly miss the "My B&O" list in the personal profile of the members. It was sometimes interesting to see what stuff the other people own.
BV7-40, BC6-26, DVD2, BCordV8000, BS4, BS2, BS Ouverture, BC9500, BM8000, BCord9000, BL8000, BL6000, BL2, BL3, BVox4500, BCom6000, Beomedia1, BCom5, Serenata

I miss most of the same things as Henrik especially the "oldest unread" button.

Re: What do you like/ dislike about the new forum?
When you enter the forum section all the threads are listed only divided by a thin line. I think it would be a lot easier to actually screen the thread topics if every second thread 'box' was light grey (or some other color) instead of white.
