    Beomaster 1900 no longer working

    Hello,

My beloved B&O1900 has stopped working after many years of sterling service, can any one help please?

From standby when I press any of the touch buttons now a loud buzz emiits from the speakers and it cuts off as soon as the touch control is released. No music can be heard. It did get a bit warm in recent weeks, the centre of the bottom plate seems warmer than usual, but no smoke!

I am guessing it might be a mains supply problem??  Has any body else ever experienced anything similar with this or more recent models? e.g 2000, 2400.

I have recently moved to Shropshire, from another area can anyone recommend a good service agent near here?

    Many thanks

    Geoff

    Geoff,

Welcome to Beoworld !  Yes - thumbs up

Try without speakers connected and let us know what happens.

    Geoff

I have no personal experience to draw on but I have heard a lot of good things about the B&O dealer in Chester and I know they are happy to deal with older B&O products.

Re: Beomaster 1900 no longer working

    Hello Dillen,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I moved three months ago and had not attempted to use the 1900 since due to the problem. But I got it out again yesterday, and to my amazement it worked fine!! However after about hal am hour a loud "crack" comes through the speakers like an electrical discharge. IIts still working at the moemnt but every few minutes it makes this noise. So its more like a component breaking down, possible in the output stage?? What do you think?

I guess I will have to wait for it to stop working altogether and then take it into a shop. possibly in Chester, thanks for the tip Simon.

    Regards Geoff

Most likely a case of aging capacitors.

Grab a capacitor kit and send in for service with the Beomaster.

    Hi Martin,

I spoke too soon, its stopped working now, just a sharp buzz if any staion button, or tape /phone is selected, which on release stops the buzz but returns to standby mode.

If you still think its capacitors, where , how can I "grab a kit"?

    Regards Geoff
