    Avant Contrast Screen

Is it possible to remove the contrast screen on a curved screen Avant? Mine's a bit grubby and I would like to give it a clean. Is it just brute force on the plastic sorround and I am being too careful.

    Thanks

    Re: Avant Contrast Screen

Don't use brute force removing the plastic surround: there are two (large plastic) screws standing in your way. You will find them if you look below/under the screen and surround, just where the red on/off switch is hidden...

    Its a 28".

Basically I presume you can remove the black plastic trim from around the screen. I have so far been unable to do this. Is it possible and does the glass screen come off after that.

The screws are internal, unlike the LX and MX series. You have to take the back off the Avant to access them - and this should only be undertaken by a qualified technician.

Cozza is correct. The later RF models are easy but the curved ones need to have the rear panel off and I cannot recommend this unless you know your way around a TV set. Very dangerous!! I certainly would not do it.

    Re: Avant Contrast Screen

Sorry to bring this old thread up again..

I have a curved screen 28" vcr model here and it has spent its life in the living room of a heavy smoker. So it's in desperate need of a good clean of the glass screen in front of the tube.

There is no service manual on site and I'm not a fan of trial and error:)

Could somebody let me know please how to remove that plastic trim?

    Marcel
