    DVD-2 : Fitting recordings onto a DVD.

I have eventually mastered the recording of shows/films onto the HDD, editing them, renaming them, recording them onto DVD and after much searching (and help from here) finalising them. Definitely nothing easy or intuitive about the DVD-2 menu systems.

But I have a problem with only being able to fit two ½ hour shows onto a disc. On my Panasonic you can choose the “quality” and using a lower quality you could fit more on. I can find a setting to do that for the recordings onto HDD, but I cannot seem to find one for recordings onto DVD. Am I missing something buried deep in the menus or is it not possible.

    Thanks in advance

Is it not best to record to HDD first and then burn onto the DVD from there? Will that not compress the file to the required quality? Look at pages 42 and 43 of the inpenetrable manual!! I used to think my Panasonic DVD recorder was a bit complicated to use but compared to the DVD2, it is a model of clarity.

    Peter,

I do record to the HDD first and then to the DVD and that is the problem!

But having looked on the pages you suggested when I first got the DVD-2, I must have missed the * on page 43, because that says (paraphrased) "when copying from the HDD to DVD you cannot change the mode and it records in the mode originally chosen" in other words, I need to record onto the HDD at the lower quality first and then I should fit more on.

Nothing like being crippled by B&O's "stupid" software :o)

    Thanks anyway becuse that helped!
