    MX-5000 remote legit?

I'm going to update an earlier post about not being able to get the TV to power on.

After sitting in a climate controlled environment for a few weeks, I decided to try again and happily the tv powered on and gave a a set-clock message as well as a static-y screen.  (Re-reading that, I'll trust you know I meant that it was the TV sitting in a climate controlled environment)

Anyway, a good start...so here's the question(s)...do I need a remote to operate the basic functions of the TV (and) does anyone know if the remotes they advertise on ebay as working with a range of B&O tv's (that are not B&O remotes) really work?

Thanks in advance for any advice, g

MX5000 uses the "modern" remote codes, so all remotes that are current in any way should work. There is a slight chance that some obscure functions might not be found in a 3rd party remote, but that's quite unlikely.

However, if you plan on using the TV for any length of time you should do yourself a favour and get a real Beolink 1000 from fleaBay or something - they are soooooo much nicer than those plastic contraptions.

I can understand if you don't want to invest much until you know if the TV works properly after all. We are generally very nice at BeoWorld, so if you tell where you are located, some friendly member near you might be able to lend you a BL1000 for a test Smile The plastic remotes from eBay won't be a big loss anyway.

I know for a fact that the Logitech Universal remotes work well with any B&O item...
