Hi all,

Friend of mine just recieved a motor base he bought for his MX6000 TV. Problem is, the motor base has 5 pins, while the connector on the MX has 4. How's this? Are there different motor base systems used? And is the 5-pin motor base even compatible with the MX6000?

As far as I know, the 5-pin motorbase is the one for the MX8000 (which uses a different chassi and therefore cannot use the older 4-pin motorbases). The MX7000 and MX6000 uses 4-pin motorbases.

Thanks! I guess a different chassis means it's not possible to make them compatible by changing the plug and/or doing some rewiring?

The MX5500/MX6000 series uses a single (presumably digital) pin to transmit and receive stand data, which connects to the AV link bus inside te television set. (Service manual, p. 17).

The MX8000 uses an analog system on the 5-pin DIN connector, with a feedback potentiometer to determine the stand position and two active low outputs to control the stand (MX8000 service manual, p.10), so the two wiring schemes are incompatible.

You might be able to combine a stand control PCB from a dead -5000 or -6000 series PCB with the existing stand motor in the 8000 stand, since they run off the same 14V supply, that could work.

Thanks! I found a motor with 4-pin plug in a mean while, think I'll  just interchange them, the size and screws seem the same.

Or find an MX8000, it seems like a nice TV to me
