Embarrassed [:$] Stupid MCL2AV connection question (how to connect rf coax)

    Hi all,

I was thinking of connecting my MCL2AVs with coax (for video over RF), at present they are only connected via MCL cable

Problem is that I don't really know how to connect the coax cable to the MCL2AVs! :-/ I thought one should just remove the RF shield and connect the coax cable by screw, but I soon found out that the RF shield wasn't removable and I don't really see any terminals when I look through the RF in/out "holes". Am I expected to insert the bare cable into these holes, and in that case: how long should the bare center core be? RF cabling isn't really my thing, as you understand, so I'd be grateful if someone could give some hints! :-)

    Thanks,

    Henrik

You don't need to. Just connect the RF feed to the TV - the control all goes through the MCL cable. Some US model MCL2AVs have an RF in and out but I don't really know why! I think it is so you can link a number of sets on a system. If you are just linking the one then there is not an issue.

Coax from TV to TV, not between AV's. EDIT... D'oh! BEATEN AGAIN!

Re: Stupid MCL2AV connection question (how to connect rf coax)

    Thank you, both of you!

Ah ok. My intention was to daisychain two MCL2AVs, and I assumed that they contain RF amps which would be of great help.

Peter, don't all real MCL2AVs have the RF in/out? The only ones I've seen without the RF connections have actually been sold as "Active Speaker Kit".

In a daisychain arrangement, then yes, you are right! They do have amping in the RF.

COAX in / COAX out ---> COAX in. Feed the COAX from the front of each MCL2AV out to its respective TV.

If you pull the 2AV grey plastic panel off, then pull the metal shield over the COAX area off... (which you have to do anyway...) you will see two threaded bosses to terminate and secure the COAX. There are even instructions printed on the board for the lengths of COAX cropping! Smile

As a gold member... I would highly recommend dloading the System Manual 89 90 for MCL2... it should have everything you need w/ regards to installing these.

EDIT... Here is a pic! Wink

    Aaaaah, thank you Burantek!

So the shielding IS removable after all! :-) That's where I failed yesterday, I couldn't see how to get the shielding off so I got a bit confused. :-)
