is a beovision 5 a good trade up from an avant dvd

I have an avant dvd 32, I'm thinking of an upgrade soon and wondered whether the beovision 5 is worth a look as they are bargains in the 2nd hand market.  or would I be best saving up for a 7-40 as a 7-32 is much the same in my opinion.  Thanks Nick

The Beovision 5 looks really great, but the older types don't have a superclear image. If you don't give a damn about the newest technologies you should really buy it, because everything else is very nice (the sound, the looks Cool).

I'd consider it, but only for the HD version (if I had the cash!).

I honestly think it would make much sense to save up for a BV7 40 MK3, that seems to be somewhat future proof.

If you don't care about connecting Apple TVs, Playstations, XBoxes, Bluerays and other HD friends the BV5 might be a good choice. I certainly adore the design of it, one of the few later "classics" in my opinion.

Oh my lord if i have to read anymore about the necessity for HD (especially on a screen size of 40") i'm gonna scream! Eeek!Whistle

I'm give an arm and a leg for a BV5, there's a mouth watering green one on LfStl-AV... *drool*

It's not about the necessity for HD, the difference in picture quality between early and latest model (the HD one) is very significant.

If you compare the early BV5 and the late Avant the difference will be big and the Avant will win hands down, you probably wouldn't be happy with the upgrade.

    I'd go for the BV5.

Quite honestly I use so little my TVs so I wouldn't mind so much for an HD or something like that.

Think about what you want to use it for. If it's only for some News or maybe a good movie I wouldn't concider going for the latest.

But it's only a matter of taste!

    Best regards

I think it is the most beautiful TVs B&O have ever made so would go for one - when you think how long it is off, great looks are important.
