    Cable Management

    Hi All,

I'm pretty sure we've all had a bad run in with a spaghetti jungle at the back out our set-ups. What does everyone use to keep this under control?? I was thinking of velcro ties however i'd probably need a shed load. I've also seen in some dealers a type of mesh that the cables are fed through giving the look of one single run, quite tidy but i'd imagine this could be rather un-enjoyable to do...

    Thoughts?

    Ash.

    Hi,

There are various "spiral wrap" cable tidy products available, as sold for tidying computer cables in offices.  These are fairly cheap (ie. a few pounds for 5m in the UK).  Although it is not usually possible within equipment stands, it pays to try to separate audio and mains cables away from each other to prevent interference (in the form of humming on the audio channels or clicks when equipment is powered up).  This is not normally too much of a problem unless you have long cable runs, but it is worth considering to ensure that you get the best performance from your system.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

I postulated a solution a number of years ago. You need a custom Medusa head wire with lots of heads but one body. You could easily standardise a couple of these to suit most systems and it would make cable management so much easier. If there was need for aqn exra cable, it would not have to fight the huge tangle we have now. A standard cable could also have the necessary shielding so interference could be avoided.

I would be happy to chat about it ! It would seem a very simple idea and one that would appeal to the vast majority of B&O users.

can you daisy chain the speakers at least? Yikes well i don't have that much connected (THREE THINGS! AC, DVD, SAT) and it's still a horrific rats nest behind the  TV cabinet ... hehe

Peter your avant is impressive, but surely you don't have those 14 or so things connected

    Re: Cable Management

    my avant pic has: (1) cable box running (4) lines / (1) masterlink to a bs9000 / (2) powerlink leads to bl4000 (front L+R) / (1) powerlink to bl6000 (rear L daisy-chained to R) / (2) power leads for surge / (1) avant power lead.

i will be adding a non b&o sub prob this weekend which will add (1) rca line to the above mix.

everything runs through the rectangular enclosure(s) at the baseboard/carpet interface.

it took a lot of effort (and an 11 month old) to get the back of the avant that clean -but i enjoyed every minute of it, really!
