Just found a bunch of vintage B&O components:

BeoGram 2000
BeoMaster 3300
BeoMaster 2000
BeoCord 2000
BeoCord 3000
BeoGram CD3300

We tested the BeoMaster 3300 with the CD and it sounds fabulous. Tried hooking up the BeoGram 3404 (that we already had) to the BeoMaster 3300 and the tone arm goes out and over the album, then goes back. Over and over. Then it sped up! The needle never lowered, and the only way to make it stop was to unplug it. This has never happened before - the 3404 is used almost daily. Are these 2 components imcompatible? Or has something suddenly happened to our old turntable? The BeoGram 2000 works fine.

Also, the BeoCords light up, but neither one will play a cassette - is there something we are missing there?

Nice collection you have there! Does the 3404 have a 7 pin DIN plug? If so, try removing the 2 extra pins - they should unscrew and normality will be restored. Very odd symptom though. The cassette decks will probably need new belts - Dillen can usually help there! 

 

 

 

 

 

Hi- Yes, the 3404 has a 7pin DIN plug. We will try removing the pins - the BeoGram 2000 also has a 7 pin DIN plug, and that is working fine though - it's very odd.

It's too hard to believe that our old turntable would go crazy on the EXACT same day that I happen to find another vintage turntable to replace it - some sort of vintage b&o kharma maybe!

Is replacing the BeoCord belts a difficult/impossible task?

Oh - and the 3300 system came with the original (working) remote. So we've replaced our 2000 system with the 3300 system!! We have the Beovox M70 speakers on pedestals in the original B&O cabinet. The entire set up sounds awesome!

I think the 3404 is a US model designed to work with the Beomaster 2400-2 and uses different codes to the later Datalink models. That is probably the cause!

Replacing belts should not be too awful and Martin (Dillen) sends instructions! I probably would worry about doing it as I am technically useless but would probably have a go!

The 3300 actually uses the same codes as a Beolink 1000 so will work with one of those remotes. Much nicer feel to them. The 3300 remotes and those before rattle a bit!

The M70s are a super speaker. Probably need a more powerful amplifier to get the best out of them though. Beomaster 6000 would be nice or if you like them, a Beomaster 4400!
