How do I clean the acoustic lense in Beolab 3?
The instruction is to not touch the acoustic lense, but over time dust is gathering inside.
What is the best way to clean the lense without damaging it?

Suction using a vacuum cleaner? Just a thought.

Well, that's a tricky one, I have heard that you can't use suction from a vacuum cleaner, as it may damage the lenses. There are however cans with compressed air avaible at specialist electronic shops, which might do the job. I have also heard the rumour that if anything else fails, you can use a soft, dry paintbrush. I have no experience with the brush and it's against B&O instructions, so I am not recommending it. Good luck solving this one!

I'd suggest a soft blower brush of the type used to clean camera lenses. Use only a high grade one; blow the dust first (lightly, not by squeezing hard and then gently brush the remaining dust forwards. If any dust remains and is stubborn to remove, leave it! Hope that helps!

The BL5s come with soft-hair brushes, for that purpose. I use compressed air (the kind photographers use on their equipment). Make certain you hold the cannister a distance away from the domes of the loudspeaker drivers -- these are soft "rubber" and should not be touched.

I would not recommend this at all. I have just used a very fine and soft unused paint brush. Have also used a make up brush, but found it was a bit too big and clumsy compared to a small paint brush. Please be careful

Thanks for the information. I guess between the two options, soft paint brush is probably the least expensive way to go about it.

Re: How do I clean the acoustic lense in Beolab 3?
As I know there has neever been problems with touching/cleaning the tweeter gently, and I can`t see why its shuld bee difference with a BeoLab 3 The cap are strong and constructed to make movemens as the pictures shown But dont make a dent in it, its not nessesary for cleaning it, for making a dent, you have to push very hard, Children like to make dent in a tweeter ;-) but normally it will still work without problems !) therefore I say that the tweeter are a strong unit that you can clean with a brush.

Which must be why B&O supply a brush with the BeoLab 5s ... Do be careful with the tweeters, though. The coating should not be scratched or damaged. They are not to be touched, and be gentle with the brush. I prefer the compressed air can. Hey, it's even called a Dust Gun!

I also use both (B&O-supplied brushes - they are losing hair, by the way) and compressed air in cans. Regarding the latter - though these "dust guns" do not require any special permission to fire - I suggest you try it on a table lamp eg, before you go for the tweeters - or the CD mechanism of your Beosound. You will realize that certain skills/practise might be neccessary in order to avoid spraying whatever you want to clean with a spray of cool liquid - which I suspect is condensed water vapor = water(?)

for some reason, my lab 3 doesn't come with a brush.
perhaps I can check with my dealer and see if they can provide me with a set.
Bulgarian thanks for the diagram :)

Re: How do I clean the acoustic lense in Beolab 3?
It's the BL5s that come with a brush, not the 3s. But you can get the same kind of brush at a camera store - they're used for cleaning lenses and camera equipment. As stated above, always blast the dust gun into the air first, and never hold it upside down, as you'll then get the liquid, and not air ...

Re: How do I clean the acoustic lense in Beolab 3?
Just changed the covers on our 9s to change the color. I noticed the tweeters are very dusty. Any other thoughts on cleaning them beyond what is in this thread?
