Confused [*-)] HDMI Coupler Query, Beovision 8 Sky Plus

I’m in the process of connecting Sky HD to my bedroom (Beovision 8) with a cable length of 20m.

I live in an apartment so don’t have the option ofmultiroom. I miscalculated the original cable length required and have ended up5m short. I've already done the majority of trunking for the cables beforerealising and would rather use a HDMI coupler with another 5m cable instead ofhaving to buy another cable and start from scratch. I recently purchased a HDMIcoupler from an Ebay seller,

    (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Premium-50M-HDMI-Extender-Coupler-Repeater-Booster-UK_W0QQitemZ360044844178QQihZ023QQcategoryZ32837QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).

Upon receiving the item it will only transmit picture and not sound. I thought the problem might be with my cables so I tested them all individually and theyare fine. Therefore I concluded the item was faulty and returned it for a newone but it's still doing same thing.  The description states the item hasan integrated amplifier up to 50m so don't think the length is an issue.

It also has information on cable AWG gauge measurements over certaindistances but that is over my head. Do coupled cables have to be exactlythe same cable or of a certain quality? I'm currently using a 15m Chord CompanySilver Plus coupled with a 5m Qed Quinex HDMI-P cable. If therecommendation is to get a new 20m cable with no coupler do you peeps thinkit's worth spending big money on a cable that has an integrated amplifier woulda cheaper one do the job? This is cable had in mind http://www.futureshop.co.uk/the-chord-company-hdmi-13a-silver-plus-20m-line-amplified-p-1030.html

There is also another product i've seen what do you think of this one?

Whilst i'm on the subject Sky HD boxes only have 1 output so i'm going toeither have to use a splitter or a switcher box, would a decent splitter do thejob or am i best getting a switcher box? Want to avoid switcher box if possit's just more bloomin wires and remotes!

I do not know much about the amplifier. With 20 meter length you are pushing it a bit though I believe. Yes it is a digital signal but even those can be distorted.

So I would either go and buy a simple extension cable and try it out or just go for a new cable and buy one that is certified / compliant with 1080P or whatnot on that lenght.

The trouble with these boxes is, that you never really know what you are getting until you try it out. That the one you bought can not do sound is a classic. And 25 quid is not even cheap giving that 20 meter hdmi cables sell in the US around 130$ or so.

I was editing this yesterday and in the middle the site went down.

I would not spend 400 quid on a 20 meter HSMI  cable. With the BV8 you not even close to run full HD and 720P is not that tough when it comes to lenght. Amplified 20 meter HDMI cable go here in the US for around 130$ .... fully certified up to 1080P on that distance.

    Cheers
