Hi:
I would go for a Denon or Cambridge Audio. Don't know if youhave Cambridge Audio where you are.
Many people on here might say just buy a cheap one from Tesco. However, I bought a Wharfdale (not the right spelling and I don't think of any relation to the company that made semi-decent speakers in the 70s/80s) this was supposed to play Divx and multi region. However, it was very clunky, the mechanism was noisy and if you paused it for any length of time it would struggle to reboot the disc in the right place.
The solution that I find works best for me is running a phono cable from my graphics card TV out to my Beovision 1, then I can watch DVDs and stream content. A few months ago it was not worth it but since BBC Iplayer and Joost et al have got into their stride it is really worthwhile. If you don't want wires trailing around, get a video sender from Aldi for around £30. Better spending £30 on that than £30 on a DVD player.
Hope this helps in some way although it didn't really answer your question.
Graham
