    B&O Master Deluxe 40K

    Hi everyone,

My first post here. I found this radio at a thrift shop, thinking of buying it but I don´t know how much it is worth "on the market". I am generally more interested in 70s stuff, but everytime I see the B&O logo I get curious, regardless age. It is ok, but has som veneer marks, the back piece is original but broken. I found on the internet that it is powered by ECH3 tubes. The design was not typically B&O, there was no logo on the front and there was no scale, only buttons with different radiostations. Not easy to use nowadays I guess.

     Is this a collectors item?

Thanks for info and a great site!

    Welcome to the forum!

It may not fetch that much money if you try to sell it, but it certainly is collectable - they do not make them anymore, you know! Laughing Probably not that many of these big expensive models were made in the first place. I would grab it, if it's not outrageously priced and you have a place to display it. I have a Master 38K myself, and unfortunately it's cramped between my other kit.

Remember to post a picture if you buy it Smile

I agree, definitely collectable and an extremely nice radio.
Compare to what other producers made around 1939/40 and you'll be surprised.

Usability ? - Depends on what you are looking for.

No remote control - no masterlink, Blu-ray etc. and it's AM only, for a start.

Its value can be set at "what people are willing to pay".

I don't remember exactly, but doesn't it have a hinged flip-up dial on top ?

Sorry, I did not buy it. I could get it as for low as 100 SKR= 10 Euro. But I did not now if it worked, the backpiece was torn. It was on an auction on the cheap section where the only way to bid is to send in a bid, highest bid wins. Lowest bid 100 SKR. You can´t follow the auction and bid higher. I don´t like this system aswell as I was not really interested personally, I was more into make some money(while I am quite poor at the moment).

I was maybe 2 weeks ago the auction was, I don´t really know what they have done with it, if they give to charity or toss it. Anyway, for those who are interested I can give you contact info on the auction company so you can contact and check. The auction company is located in Helsingborg, Sweden. Not very far from Copenhagen Martin.

It does NOT look like this one(if it had, I would have bought it): http://www.bang-olufsen.com/image-gallery?pid=198&descr=Master+40+K,+1939

    Best regards
