    November quiz!

BeoWorld Gold Member Dennis Jehs Loh (Dennis), the winner of one of the September prizes - the rare Beomaster 3400, has decided that this is not for him and has kindly donated it as a prize for a quiz!

I have therefore drawn up a nice easy one but with a slant towards the older equipment as this is likely to find a winner keen on owning such a rare receiver! However all the questions are easy - nothing cryptic or hidden! All the products are on site and there are no trick questions!!

To add a little spice however, I have decided to make this quiz mathematical! Each question will refer to a product with a product number! Add all the numbers of the product together to make the answer for the particular question. For instance, if the answer is the Beogram 8002, the number will be 8 + 0 + 0 + 2 = 10 Then multiply all the answers together to get the final solution! The lucky winner will be the first name drawn from a hat from all those with the correct answer! Or the person who is closest!! Well you didn't expect it to be that simple!! Laughing

    Here goes:

    1. What was Bang and Olufsen's first quadraphonic receiver?

    2. Which was the B&O cassette deck that was first fitted with HX-Pro ?

    3. Name the speakers that were shaped like a cube.

    4. Which speaker had 7 drive units?

    5. B&O's first colour video recorder was a V2000 type machine. Which was the first VHS machine?

    6. Name the FM only receiver which had a caterpillar type control mechanism.

    7. Which were the headphones available for the Beosystem 2400?

    8. A remote control with a transparent display is a B&O novelty. Which one is it?

    9. Mythical black fronted top of the range receiver from 1979.

    10. The largest slide rule receiver made - in its first incarnation.

    11. B&O's first production colour televsion with a 25" screen.

    12. B&O's broadcast standard tuner.

Remember - add the model number together for each question and then multiply all the numbers together!

And a tie break - Why do you want a Beomaster 3400 ? - the judge of this will be Lee!

    Answers to beoworld_admin@mac.com

Once again, many thanks to Dennis for his kindness!

    Nice quiz Peter.
That Francoisvl is on the ball, isn't he?
Just to clarify (for a thickhead), when you say all numbers multiplied, does that mean that, for example if the answers are all 2 then the final answer would be 16,384 on twelve questions?

    Poor me, never win owt!

Not sure what sort of maths you are doing! 2 to the power 12 is 4096 in my maths. The number is however a lot more than that!!

How many tuners do you know that B&O made? A tuner is the radio circuit but no amplifier - the two combined become a receiver - the usual B&O format.

First I thought there was only one, but after a study of the Beoworld Product page I found two.....

    Was my guess right?

Even 4 if I count the FM21 tuner and the Minette FM from the 60’s.
Perhaps a clue to orientate our choice?

Very exciting quiz and wonderful prize to win! Cool

The clue is broadcast quality! Only one tuner made by B&O was of this standard and in fact even had adjustments so that levels could be changed if one was based at a broadcast studio!

Thanks Lee. I had to crop it so you wouldn't see the fig in my left hand or my scuffy jeans.

I have twelve answers Peter but still have doubts about two of them. As for a Tiebreaker,  haven't got a clue! Does flattery get you everywhere?
