    Beogram 4000

Hi,I'm rebuilding a damaged 4000 (Yes in transit...) I'm replacing the tone arm and counterbalance and was wondering if any one has used the sve tool 3624009 or tryed to make one.I see tracking various tools on line including balance bubble and tracking weight checks(Not sure if I can trust the old rebuild adj.Been out of town for a while and see alot of blobs re- bg 4000 repair. Hard to believe the damage in transit.Though I was just unlucky.I really feel for the guy who spent $1500 bucks!

Are you experienced in this sort of rebuild? If not, I would suggest getting someone to help. Where are you based?

    Re: Beogram 4000

Hi Peter, thanks for reply.Think we talked on site before.I bought a 4000 from e-bay which was sold in good working condition(Which I think was the case)However the cartridge mount was broken in transit.I live in Belfast and received no interest from my local B&O dealer. In fact I don't think its easy to aquire any 4000 parts anywhere in Ireland.I have managed to get my hands on the parts from a broken deck from a helpful guy on e-bay.I am an engineer and have good practical skills. The arm from the broken deck is a modified version of mine.It is a soldered wires whereas mine was a push on fit.Obviously there is a difference in mass between the two arms therefore the counterbalance must be changed and subsequent adj of arm for length and tracking.I'm quite hopeful! Thus my question to the forum.I see turntablebasics.com sell a mirrored tool for adj,but was wondering if this was of any use for tangential tracking desks.I think it may be

    Regards

    Peter
