As I recieved mine I was at first a little disappointed of the relative small bass output but after a few test calibration runs I received the best results as I cleared the entire room and did the calibration.
I came from a 4x BL8000 plus BL2 setup where the bass was overpresent and I had to adjust my sense of bass to the performance of the 5's. They simply play music as it is recorded and if there is less bass the output has less bass, simple as that.
Try some calibration setups and find out what suits your needs/favour... I even went to the extreme and measured them outside ( infinite room = maximal bass ) but that was way too much :-)
Here are some personal music tips for you, maybe you have something of it in your collection:
Robert Manos " Mombasa " from Angel Road ( MASSIVE bass )
Nils Lofgren " Keith don't go " from Acoustic Live ( excellent for High & Mids )
Foo Fighters " Over and Out " from In your Honor Disc 2 ( Overall very good recording )
Hans Zimmer " Inception Soundtrack " ( great Soundtrack and lots of dynamics )
Tori Amos " Reign in Blood " from Strange little Girls
The Eagles " Hotel California " from Hell freezes over ( You will smile when the drums kick in ... promised! )
Best regards
Stephan
