Can anyone tell me if you need to manually change the band when travelling overseas with the Serene? I have previously used a cheap Motorolla and Nokia and they automatically changed band when necessary and worked instantly. I am in Australia and recently the Serene did not work in the USA and kept searching...My local B&O dealer doesn't seem to know very much about this aspet of the Serene.This seems a problem with such an expensive phone!

What SIM card were you using in the States? Is it possible that the provider didn't have a roaming agreement with any of the 2 GSM providers here?

I had problems in vegas with my motarola and in NY it workt nice can be your profider

Serene does not change automatically between GSM 900/1800 and GSM 1900.

From the Menu choose: 9. Settings - 5. Network services - 8. Band selection - GSM 1900

I used my Serene end of last year at several places in the US and it was fine.

The connection afterwards of course depends on your mobile supplier (from which you got the SIM) - do they have a rooming contract with any of the US mobile suppliers appearing in the 4. Network selection sub-menu under the Network services.

The SIM card that is in the Serene is the same one used with the Motorola and the Nokia. With those phones the access was fine and Text messages were sent seamlessly from the USA with both phones. I think it is more than ironic that one phone, the Motorola, that was a free gift for collecting Coka Cola labels, and the Nokia that cost nothing with a plan both worked without any effort, wheras the Serene, that cost nearly $2000AU!!! either won't work at all, or you have to manually change bands in order to get it to work!  It really shows that there is no necessarily any relationship between price, quality and value!

 I love my B&O equipment but perhaps it really is true that designer labels do not necessarily equate with quality!
