Just noticed this in the April 2010 B&O report.

Finally, Bang & Olufsen has launched the unique BeoTime, which combines an alarm clock with a
remote control. BeoTime allows the user to choose to wake up to the sound of a gentle alarm clock,
the sound of a TV programme, a radio station or music from the Bang & Olufsen system. In addition,
BeoTime has a built-in sleep timer, which enables the user to fall asleep to the user’s preferred music
or TV programme, in that BeoTime shuts down the system at a pre-set time. Since November,
BeoTime has offered increased system functionality in that home automation sources such as light,
curtains etc. can now be activated in combination with MasterLink Gateway.

When Beaker did his September review light control was possible. Does the above mean that there have been two versions of Beotime, one only being out for a few weeks without home automation via Masterlink, or is it that something has been lost in translation?

(And if there has been an upgrade, can early versions be upgraded in some way?)

The article reflects the fact that start of sales was planned for summer 2009 but
due to delays in production had to be postponed to late autumn 2009.

End of summer only small number of BeoTimes could be delivered to the shops
as "teaser" samples for showrooms.

The sale of BeoTime started Nov/Dec 2009. 

Thanks Vienna. Only one version then in all probability, and the report was about the increased functionality that Beotime could bring to  MLG systems.  Unless someone else knows something different?

I think it's just a simple "opening" up the software on the BEOTIME. . .akin to setting the option.

I have a beotime which allows you to control "alarm light" (i.e. trigger MLGW)

and also has a "sunrise" function which is for future use?

The MLGW docs tell you how to "activate" this part of your beotime. . .it's something to 

do with clicking the alarm on and off several times. . .

I think this is already a function Beotime is capable of

Or, where can I download the MLGC doc describing the procedure? I  didn't find it on the B&O Site

TWG I do no know if you already received this information but here are the instructions as per the MLGW helpfile. I just received my own MLGW yesterday.

 

BeoTime

For MasterLink Gateway customers, BeoTime will ensure a complete and pleasant wake-up not only via the alarm, audio or video sources, but also via a combination of home automation actions: different light settings, opening of blinds, etc. - all controlled via MasterLink Gateway.

For busy mornings BeoTime can control selected sources and likewise at night ask MasterLink Gateway for a predefined pleasant goodnight.

By offering these new functionalities, we extend the decentralised timer functionality offered by BeoTime in the bedroom environment also to engage and activate home automation sources for the whole house.

BeoTime interacts with MLGW by sending infrared LIGHT commands together with the alarm and the chosen audio/video sources.

This compatibility must be enabled on BeoTime.

Enabling MLGW compatibility on BeoTime

To enable or disable MLGW compatibility on BeoTime:

1. From idle state press and hold ◼ for at least 10 seconds.
2. While still holding ◼ toggle the alarm button 4 times (i.e. ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF or OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON).
3. Release ◼.

When MLGW compatibility has been enabled the following features are available:

• The menu contains an ALARM LIGHT option for selecting the light command for wake-up
• A lights off sequence (see below) is transmitted at the alarm timeout event
• A lights off sequence is transmitted at the sleep timer timeout event

Alarm LIGHT functionality

ALARM LIGHT will be added to the main menu - opening up for LIGHT commands used alongside audio/video sources used for wake-up. In the ALARM LIGHT menu the following LIGHT commands can be selected: NONE, ON, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, RED, GREEN, YELLOW or BLUE. Default is set to: NONE.

ALARM TIMEOUT

The sources activated by the ALARM LIGHT can now also switch off at the same time as the ALARM TIMEOUT defined for the audio or video source in your bedroom area. BeoTime will transmit a lights off sequence at timeout.

SLEEP TIMER TIMEOUT

Likewise, the sources activated via the ALARM LIGHT command can now also switch off at the same time as the SLEEP TIMER TIMEOUT defined for the audio or video source in your bedroom area. BeoTime will transmit a lights off sequence at timeout.

Lights off is transmitted as the IR codes LIGHT 0 followed by LIGHT STOP.

The ALARM LIGHT menu also has a SUNRISE option for gradually raising the light level by sending LIGHT-STEP UP commands periodically. This is intended for future use.

Checking BeoTime infrared commands

You can verify the exact sequence of infrared commands by setting up an alarm on BeoTime and then using the monitoring tool on MasterLink Gateway (on the command line interface or the web interface) and checking for LIGHT events in the room.

WOW!

This is great! I just enabled the MLGW on my Beotime. Now I can have an alarm (with the bling-sound) and it turns my lights on! I have one of those B&O -compatible Innovus dimmers connected to a bedside-lamp.

Didn't try the sunrise -option yet but that sounds even better, just what I have hoped for.

I bought my BeoTime about a year ago. Surprised that the functions were there all the time but needed to be activated. Wonder if there's some more... ?

Anyway, I don't have a MLGW, but the timed alarm with light does work. Just BeoTime + B&O-IR compatible dimmer. I have been trying the SUNRISE function but can't seem to figure it out.

Works Nice with Lutron GE without the MLGW

I tried again. The SUNRISE -thing works but I can't make it not to bling. I would like to have it only to make the sunrise effect, no sound.

No, I don't have a MLGW. Timer light will not function without a MLGW?

According to couple of posts below, apparently it does work without MLGW - i interpreted the press release as saying it's a new feature only on MLGW.....it seems not.

I thought it would be a basic function of a home automation system to trigger some actions at certain point in time, without the need of an external programmable remote control

But I can't get it to work with Lightmanager PRO from jbmedia. The Lightmanager reacts (you can see it on the LED status) but no lamp get's activated. Will have to figure it out AFTER my exam on 14 Feb. ;-)
