Beocenter 7002 turntable dust cover fault

Hi there, need some help pleaseSmile

I would appreciate some help with fixing the turntable lid on my 7002 center. Im basically trying to get the lid to stay up when I open it as it just collapses every time.

Ive taken the 3 screws out at the back to try and sort it out as it seems it should be simple but if it is then it hasnt dawned on me yet!

I think that somebody has tried to fix it before as the wire has been out and probably misshapped before being put back in the wrong way

around. Whats the procedure people? Thanking you in advance....

Sounds like the spring has been twisted by a previous "repairer".
You may or may not be able to twist it back. Take out the spring and
note which way it should go in again.
Twist both ends to give a greater tension and fit it again.
If the spring was twisted several times already, as you suggest, it may have
lost it's effect and we will have to find a replacement.

    Hi Martin

just to ask you, from your experience does the U shape in the middle of the spring of the turntable dust cover point up or downward when Im putting it back in?

As somebody was at it before I cant tell which is the correct way.

    thanks

    ger
