    Beogram 8000 flashing sensor

    Hi,

I've just brought my Beogram 8000 out of storage so haven't used it for a while.

When I turn it on the sensor bar (the one beside the tone arm) flashes its little light every 5 seconds or so.

The table doesn't spin or the arm move.

    Any ideas?

Update - if I unplug from the mains and then plug in again it does appear correctly with a red dot in the led.  If I press TURN the turnable does spin but then no longer operates and reverts back to the occasional flash from the senor arm and I notice a flash of the LED and a slight attempt to turn the platter (barely noticeable)

    Thanks

    Angus

    Angus,

    Welcome to Beoworld !

Your Beogram 8000 is showing the usual symptoms of aging capacitors, cracked
solder joints and possibly a disintegrating tachodisc. All fixable.

Do a search in these quarters and you will find lots more info.

    Thanks Martin,

It clearly didn't like being in a cupboard for a year.

Can recommend anyone who would be best suited to restoring my Beogram 8000?

    Thank you.

    Angus

    Re: Beogram 8000 flashing sensor

I noticed some time ago that Beoworld member Nobby was looking to do some repairs.
I am not sure if that is still the case and/or if he will accept to do a tangential but it's
    worth asking him, I suppose.

    Angus,

this is something mine did too when I first got it.  I used the left tracking button to move the arms all the way to the left and then all the way back again until the arms parked under the cover.  Since then, It's worked faultlessly though as Martin with all of his experience says, a repair to caps etc will be on the cards.

    Dave.

Am I ready? I was born ready!
