Are they Powerlink MK3 cables, or not?
Hi Beoworlders!
Yesterday I found an ad with a Beolab 3000 amplifier. The amplifier was connected to a Beovision or a Beosystem, and there was light in the display. But the cables didn't look like Powerlink MK2 cables, which I have been told, is the only cable that works with Beolab 3000! The cable on the picture, looks like a Powerlink MK3 cable for me! Can anyone tell me if the cable on the picture is a Powerlink MK3. I don't think that it is a Powerlink MK3 cable, because then the display won't work? But take a look at the 4 pictures:

I was borned with a Beolink 1000 in my hand!

Your cables are thick and they carry the display info, so they are MK2.

Re: Are they Powerlink MK3 cables, or not?
PowerLink Cables - fully mounted (all pins connected):
Can be used for ALL Bang & Olufsen Speakers.
The original PowerLink Cable (fully mounted) used for Pentas and BeoLab 3000/4500/5000 in the 80's & 90's had a diameter of 7mm. It was replaced by Powerlink Mk II with a diameter of 3,5mm.
!! Recently Powerlink Mk II has been replaced by a NEW TYPE called "PowerLink Shielded" - a fully mounted and double shielded cable with a diameter of 5,5mm and available up to 50m !!
A new Power Link Junction Box - B&O PartNr 3132055 is also available.
PowerLink Cables - witout diplay data:
Powerlink "thin" (diameter of 2,5mm) came with Beolab 4000/6000/8000 in the 90's *)
It has been replaced by Powerlink Mk III (diameter 2,6mm) and factory made cables are marked with an arrow/ a triangle on the plugs. Custom-made Mk3 cables can be recognised by having an additional blue wire connected to pin 7
*) avoid this cable ... it does NOT work with recent speakers like BLB2 /3 / 5/ 9 / BLB 4000UP ...
