    Multiple cartridge CD player

I have a Model #8420137 CD player connected to a 7000 series music system. I'm having trouble with the player not ejecting the cartrage (10 CD's).

Anyone out there that has experience with this style of player or better yet a service manual. I did a manual serach and came up empty.

    Re: Multiple cartridge CD player

Hi: Your 10 CD bang & Olufsen multi CD player is known as the CMM-10 and consists of a Sony manufactured 10 CD cartridge type (auto) player with a Bang & Olufsen manufactured transition box and cables.

I just purchased one on eBay (USA) for $67.00. I had never heard of nor seen this product prior to my eBay find. I researched it in advance of having received it and thought that it would only work with  teh BeoMaster 7000 unit.

I hooked it up to my BeoSound 2300 and it works like a charm. I was only half-way there as the set-up manual only illustrated the operation via a BeoLink 7000 via Tape 2. To my relief, it is controlled beautifully with my Beo4. A bit more limited then the BeoLink 7000, but it allows for complete operation including volume, disc and song changes.

The sound is so defined and dynamic that I was at first curious if the D/A conversion was taking place in the transition box or if it is all done by the 2300. Seeing as it is feeding into the "AUX" socket, I believe that the D/A converter circuitry must be in that box. And if so, it must be top-of-the-line.

Turned out to be a great purchase. The set-up manual only, is available here on BeoWorld. No service manual. My understanding is that teh CMM-10 had a very limited distribution and was only made available in the USA.

I have not had a problem with the ejection function but the assembly must be powered on (LED light on) as the ejection mechanism is electronic with no manual option. I know for a fact that the CD unit part is a converted Sony car unit as the removeable cartridge (only) is marked as such. If you can identify the respective Sony model number, I'm sure that you can find a service manual for it.

    Good luck!

    Re: Multiple cartridge CD player

Hi, I tend to use my one only on Tape2 on my BC9000.

I have the slim manual for this somewhere.

I've not tried in on the Aux port, do you just use AV and then CD to play?

    Cheers

    Re: Multiple cartridge CD player

Hi: On the BeoSound 2300, there is only the "AUX" socket and no "TAPE" sockets as on the earlier systems. So the "AUX" is the only choice.

I set my Beo4 remote to "A. AUX" via the "List" button. Press the center button "Go" and the unit begins play. Up & down arrows change songs and the right and left change CD's.

I noticed on the CD magazine, that it says Sony Model XA-10B. Perhaps a google search will help you to locate the service manual for the CD changer part of the system. By the way, the operating guide refers to the other box as the "converter box". The red LED is on the side opposite the cable end.

    Re: Multiple cartridge CD player

Turns out that the XA-10B printed on the CD magazine refers to the model number of the magazine only and not the changer unit. However, this magazine works with Sony 10 CD Changer models CDX-52, CDX-72, CDX-81 and probably many more.

I found a photo of a Sony CDX-A30 that looks just like the B&O CMM-10 so that could be the one.

However, seeing as the magazine works for all of these models, gaining access to a service manual for any of htese moels should provide you with what you need as I'm sure the ejection mechanisms are all the same.

There are many actual Sony CDX service manuals for sale on eBay.

    Good luck.
