Getting music (and maybe TV later into the bedroom

    Dear Chums

I would like to throw my dilema open to your huge experience please.  I've got a BC1 and BS3000 downstairs in the living room that is powering a Detoma power amp and non B & O passive speakers.  Decided I'd like to either extend the system to provide music and later TV in our bedroom OR go for a separate system.  I think I'm keen on a separate system as obviously can't be arsed to get out of bed and change discs over on my BS3000.  If I had a BS9000 it might be different.  Therefore looking at Beocenter 2 (utterly gorgeous - with DVD module) feeding either BL6000 or using Detoma again and non B & O bookshelf passives.  I have a fairly well stocked BS6.  Anyone else had a similar question and what did you go for?  Am I missing an obvious solution?

    Happy new year

    Jon

Why not use your computer as a source - get a Beoport and then control the music with iTunes and an iTouch. There are a number of ways of porting the music to the bedroom - either wired or wireless. I do have a BC2 but it only holds one disc. Youi would have to either duplicate your collection or carry discs about.

Thanks Peter.  I wonder if I can connect my BS6 to BL6000 with the same cable that is well documented for use with connecting to BL3 or BL4.  Any comments re- suitablility of BL6000 in the bedroom for low volume music?  Was shocked to hear someone regarded them as car speakers in a drain pipe.   I remember walking past a pair in operation at my local dealer and thought they sounded pretty good.

    regards

Not a huge fan of the 6000 - I think the 4000 is better - bigger volume and driver - but they are OK. The cable should be fine though I am not a huge fan of using MP3 players to drive £1500 speakers! Laughing

A very good point re- using mp3 files to power expensive loudspeakers.  I am shocked and deeply embarrased that I didn't think of that as I am always preaching GIGO (garbage in and garbage out!)

I'm going to explore both your ideas of beoport and also a separate source with passive speakers powered by my old faithful chum a Detoma power amp.
