I have to say that when we first started discussing the Cat7 installation standard I was fairly impressed. It sounded as though it would significantly reduce pre-wire costs, increase flexibility, and make it easier for non-B&O technicians to contract out pre-wires (let alone Do-It-Yourselfers).
After seeing the documentation I was left scratching my head. Systems like Kaleidescape make it so easy to network with gigabit switches & Cat5 cables so it confused me as to why we would make the infrastructure (from the looks of it) even more complex than ML!
When you think of it, however, it's not an actual ethernet standard as we're still communicating to the same ports & boards in the same language, just using different cables. My guess is that when the next gen launches in earnest we'll see some simplification while existing Cat7 infrastructures will work just fine. It's also probably not as complicated as the documentation makes it out to be.
