    TX-2 (Type 5913) Tone Arm

    Here`s the situation:

Everything about the table seems to be working great with the exception of the tone arm.

For some reason when I begin to play the record, the tone arm and cartridge/stylus doesn`t lower enough to touch down and play the beginning of the record. Instead, it glides and finally lands near the end of the record. It`s similar to an airplane landing. When it finally touches down, it`s a little bumpy at first, but then it`s all good for the rest of the way.

My MMC4 cartridge has been taking a beating due to this...but I have no problem replacing it with a SMMC4.

Any info on how to resolve this issue?

The carriage slides on a steel track bar, clipped to the subchassis plate.
Sounds like yours have lifted off at the rightmost end.
    Was it transported/shipped ?

Opening of the Beogram is needed to reach the spot so if you are not
very good with mechanics, I suggest you bring it in for service.
If my diagnose is correct it won't be an expensive repair.

Looks like I`ll be bringing it in for service.

I actually won it on eBay. It was packed well, but it didn`t have its original packaging. Any suggestions on how to transport it from now on without causing further damage?? (Aside from tightening the transport screws)

    Thanks for the info!

Yes, squeeze a thin block of foam in between the top of the carriage and the black plastic rear cover to hold
    the carriage down.
Also place foam pieces around - or under and above the arms to provide a light sandwich-squeeze when the lid is closed.
Of course making sure not to bend the arms in the squeeze.
