I think they are all red - I am sure all mine are! On the eject side, it is probably the tape jamming . Does it play? I usually manage by pushing it a bit further in rather than trying to pull it out. If necessary, take the top off.

    Re: VX 5500 eject problem

There's a belt which drives the eject mechanism under the bottom plate, this may well have perished - I had this problem and that was the cause. If memory serves me it is the only one in there so you canoot miss where it should go.

    Chris.

    Re: VX 5500 eject problem

i took the bottom off and the belt that is running there is ok. out of curiousity I have put the net on and tied to eject it did it but when pushing it bak it didnt take it in every time. It ejected it several times though. Thinking of looking on the other side I turned it and when trieing again ejecting it jammed again.

would it matter to get the top off ,.....hmm how did it go off ......if you hae some more ideas feel welcome. btw i chiped of a small part on the bottom that doesnt seem to do anyharm though..........

Could be the loading basket gear assembly has cracked. It is not an uncommon failure on the VX  VCRs. Cracks in the white plastic end pieces cause the cassette to not load or unload straight, and it jams. Part number is 2700011 , description is gearwheel VX3000 / VX5000.

The cracked end gears can be easily seen with the loading basket removed.

Ideally you should manually eject the tape by pressing eject and lifting both sides of the cassette evenly. Exchange of the gear is done with the deck in the unloaded position so as to not upset the mechanical timing.

Due to the possibility of mechanical misalignment, this is a job best left to a technician.

Totally true! If the gear is ok, another very common fault are the capacitors on the main motor, they get ruined due to the excessive heat.

if it were the capacitators wouldnt it ,...not at all eject.....It now does it very rarely but sometimes it does. last time was when i tried to press the tape with my fingers while ejecting ,.....but its not in a way that I can repeat it ;(

If all other functions like fast winding and playing are ok, it is a problem of the gear. If the vcr behaves strange with playing and winding, this is the start of end (of the capacitors).

    Good luck

That's a shame, if you were in the UK I may have been able to help you.

    Hello,

I have the same problem.  Could you be more specific in where to find these capacitors, because the inside of a VX is a mess and there's no Service Manual here on Beoworld.

    Kind regards
