BV7BS3 speaker connections
In anticipation of purchasing a BV7 I was reading the guide for it on the B and O web page. I noticed that speaker connections are labeled 1-6 rather than front and rear as on our current Avant. When we built our house B and O installed in wall wiring for the rear speakers in the surround setup. I run one powerlink to a connection in the wall behind the Avant. The in wall wiring then runs in series to to powerlink connections located where each of the rear speakers are. I then set one speaker to left and one to right. It appears in the BV7 guide that each speaker out connection, 1-6 must be assigned to a specific speaker. If true that seems to mean the rear speakers can not we wired in series and I will not be able to use the in wall wiring for one of the speakers and will have to run a seperate new powerlink wire to that location?

Re: BV7BS3 speaker connections
As confusing as it may sound, the BeoSystem 3 will recognized daisy-chained speakers without issue. You will find that when assigning speaker types in the menu it will "fire up" each speaker individually and allow them to be named and configured individually, even if they're running out of the same socket. Nothing at all to worry about!

Thanks once again! Now if my wife and I could just get over the little part of us that wants a BV4 and then actually get the BV 7 ordered. LOL

Honestly, unless there is an issue with screen size, no one wants a BV-4 more than a BV-7. If you love your Avant, you will love its 'Grandson'. Russ

Re: BV7BS3 speaker connections
I am glad to hear you say that. We feal the same way about the 7. Everybody is so preoccupied with screen size however we find ourselves succumbing to the temptation to look just at screen size. We sit 10-13 feet from the screen so either would work, 7 maybe just a little small, 4 just a little too big...but certainly a matter of taste.

I have to say that I have chossen a BV4 over a BV7....because I have a screen comming down for my projector and it will be at least a challenge to operate the DVD tray :-) However, I have an older model with nice alu frame and not the new one....grrrr...don't like that one! So size is not the only reason.... Karsten

Re: BV7BS3 speaker connections
Is your preference for the BV7 based on the overall design of the TV, ie it looks like something special from B and O rather than just another plasma on the wall, or is it the picture quality? or both?

Re: BV7BS3 speaker connections
It is indeed both Razlaw, The BV-4's have an unquestionably amazing picture, and I generally tend to prefer Plasma to LCD in general. But beyond a certain point, even the BV-4 is simply a frame hanging on a wall. The BeoVision 7, for me, so perfectly captures some of the 'mojo' about which there is another thread here, that it is without question the morer attractive, satisfying product overall. And its picture is stunning! Russ

The most that can be daisy chained are two different speaker roles? Correct? Such as left surround and right surround?
It is not possible to, for instance, daisy chain 3 such as left surround, rear centre, and right surround?

No, center and sub speakers cannot be daisy'ed, so daisy only works in pairs of 2 speakers with "the same role, but left and right". The powerlinkcable only contains left/right signal cables.

Re: BV7BS3 speaker connections
I just tried something. I added an additional speaker to the BV7 menu (even though one was not actually connected) I assigned it the role of Right Surround. After doing this I was able to assign the two speakers that are connected, in series, as Left Surround and Rear Centre. So it does appear that in some instances speakers can be connected in series other than just right and left.
