    Beosystem 2500 and Beolab 4000

I have an early Beosystem 2500 with the original Beolab 2500 speakers.  I want to buy an early pair of Beolab 4000s (Non ICE) to replace the BL 2500s.  Are there any compatibility problems particularly with 'Powerlink' cables?

No problem. Only later BL4000 (ICE Power) need PowerLink cables MKIII (5 wires)

    Hi,

Gerd is correct, although I would always recommend that if you still have the original mark 1 cables (VERY thin, c.2mm diameter) then when you replace your speakers, this is a good time to go for some new mark 3 cables anyway.  The mark 1 cables are not the most robust option and if you are burying your cables in walls or ceilings, mark 2 or 3 cables give you some "future-proofing" if you make changes further down the line.

    Best regards,

    Steve.

    Hi,

Only 4 wires plus screen are required for mark 3 cable (left and right audio, voltage reference and mute) plus screening conductor.  The fifth wire referred above to is the screen/audio ground.

    Best regards,

    Steve.
