I am appealing to the many and varied Beoworld members worldwide for some advice.
I have now been converted to Macs for around four years now, I am am huge fan and would not consider reverting back to the dreaded PC. I first bought a Mac Mini for my daughter and then one for myself I love the easy use, the format of the OS system and the way that almost anything I connect to the Mac works with ease, I am a huge fan and have converted several friends and work colleages to the Mac way of life and they have all been very greatful for my persistance in converting them.
But:
I recently purchased iLife for £55 and whilst I admit some responsibility for not reading the small print, it never occured to me that once I had bought the software I would not be able to install it on my daughters machine as well as mine. For this I would need to buy the 5 user option at a substantially higher cost. For this she was greatly disapointed.
For her birthday I bought my daughter and iPhone. What an absolutely amazing piece of equiptment. I was able to use it for a few days myself before I handed it over to my daughter on her birthday, this was purely for research you understand, honest! She had to drag it out of my hands on the big day, I have never found it so hard to hand over a present, even to my daughter. She of course was delighted and loved it. Until she tried to sync it with her Mac Mini..........OS version not compatable so it would not sync! £279 plus £35 per month and it will not sync with her Mac!
To try and resolve the above problem I splashed out on Leopard for Xmas. I spent the extra money on a 5 user version (so I do learn sometimes) and tried to install it on her Mac. After it had been running for 24hrs it became apparent that it was not going to work. Why...because her mac was too old a version. So We cannot sync the iPhone and cannot update the OS system with £129 software.
This is not what I have come to expect from Apple and have become disolutioned and intend to write to Apple to complain.
So... I ask you Beoworld members, have you any experience of writing to Apple, what sort of response did you get. I am also aware that writing to the correct person can make a huge difference to the outcome of the complaint. Do you know who would be the best person to address my complaint to ( I live in the UK)
Finally, do you sympathise with my situation or is it just a result of my own lack of understanding, do I have a valid complaint?
I value the opinion of Beoworld members and would appreciate any thoughts or advice that you may have to offer to help me overcome this temporary glitch with my Mac affections.
Many thanks in advance
