Switch unit (specifically just the internals of the FM switch) for a BM2200 (type 1601)

    Hi

Does anybody have one of these they don't need?  The FM switch has obviously been dismantled in the past and whoever put it back together broke the tiny metal contact mechanism when reassembling so a repair is not possible Angry

    Regards

    Richard

Is that the one in the dual-row switch bank ?

Yes Martin, the rightmost switch on the bottom row.  After changing all the caps I got beautiful sound from the tape/phono and the am section of the tuner but no FM.  After 30 minutes with the multimeter I found that the FM switch was open circuit, I tried cleaning it but it made no difference so I carefully took it out.  You can then clearly see that half of the contact is missing on both sides.  When I then short the contact the FM section bursts into life and for the other side of the switch, the FM section of the light illuminates.

Oh, so all that's missing is the two tiny bronze contact sliders inside the switch ?

    I will look for some.

    Thanks Martin Big Smile

The sound of the BM2200 is quite outstanding.  Rich bass and very controlled, even at high volume.  I think I will keep it for my office/workshop together with a couple of S45.2 speakers ...

Yes, the old Beomaster 2000 and 2200 have wonderful sounding amplifiers. I would prefer them to any newer hybrid amp anytime.
