My Dad's Beomaster 1000 needs a full set of lamps.

The tuning scale lamps are not a problem - Maplins sell BU19V R10 MES 6.5V 300mA which is as near as makes no difference. Sorted.

The stereo indicator is stumping me though. It's a 19Volt 0.097Amp, PHILIPS 8097D/71 IMPX (part number 8230004), should be common as muck because they were used in all sorts of old radios, but I can't find one anywhere. Nearest matches I found were also from Maplins - either a BU20W R10 MES 12V 100mA or a BU21X R10 MES 12V 183mA. (They do 24V flavour as well, but I thoughtthey might be a bit dim - 50mA and 125mA rated.)

Ideally I'd like the proper replacement, but I gather they are unobtainable. Failing that then, which of the contenders I've found would be the best option? Or should I get one of each and try them and see?

I  would go for the 24v as the 12v will not last too long with something approaching 19v passing through them!

Yes, I did wonder about the wisdom of putting a 12V bulb in the way of 19V... Then I started using the v=ir formula and calculating the resistance of the bulb and ended up wondering if a low wattage 12V item might not be a closer match... Then I started to get confused

No doubt Dillen knows for sure. It's an odd little bulb though - looks like its covered in plastic.

The Beomaster 1000 stereo indicator lamp is shielded in a pertinax tube that will (or at least should) just slide off.
Underneath you'll find a normal E10 bulb envelope but the rating of 18/19V is a bit odd.
I have correct lamps in stock.

I had one out of one of my BM1000's to check it - 19V is what it is marked as. The glass envelope seems to have a plastic nobbly coating on it, I'm guessing it would act as some sort of diffuser, not that it would be needed here. The sleeve came off nicely - no sticking! Hopefully Dad's will be as easy to swap.
