• Re: BeoGram 4000 Restoration

This is the ripple on the 23.2V circuit with the large 3000uF original capacitor. Capacitance measured 3565uF. Ripple 1900mV pp.

Capacitors arrived. Installed as in pic. As always, for the skeptics who claim - "No reason to change capacitors - my 40-year-old BeoGram is working flawlessly". Proof positive - the circuits are overstressed with excessive ripple. Pictures below!

Aha! Your curiosity got the better of you! So it was a production goof! I'm not surprised that it is your #1 TT. I'm waiting for capacitors and resistors. As soon as they arrive, I'll continue.
It's quite strange that the pickup leads were soldered in reverse, never heard about flaw like that though!
Yes, how many times does a tech check polarity of the 4 colored tonearm wires? We just take it for granted that they're OK, as long as we hear something playing through the amplifier

Gunther, Thank you! Yes, the FCH is before my time as well. I DO have < and > functions - it just runs fast, because the voltage is at about 10VDC, instead of about 3VDC. And the Potis are brand-new Bourns Cermet units - the ones I use for many years now- excellent quality, so they are not at fault. So I am just trying to figure out why they are

Having now redone the main PCB with new caps, potis and some resistors, the 33rpm now regulates correctly - before it wandered all over the place. 2 remaining problems - perhaps I'm not doing something correctly. Potis 1VR5 and 1VR6 adjust the DC Servo Motor voltage in < FF and > RW. I have my Fluke 187 RMS voltage meter connected, and I am

  • Re: Beogram 6000 / 4002 ToneArm not lowering - Lubrication Points

That's fine, but you MUST disassemble the pivot points and clean out the old gunk, before putting in new oil. The reason is quite simple - with the old gunk in there, the solenoid is working very hard to overcome the friction, drawing a fortune of current, and is heating up, drastically shortening its lifetime. With the gunk removed, it's working

You put a smile on my face!!!! But here, the men meet in the living room, and put the wife in the bedroom with the children!

Well, this reverse wiring looks like an original production goof - apologies to the supposedly sleepy production assembler and idiot aftermarket technician! In the BG4000 Service Manual Page 3-2 (and the SM's for the 4002 and 4004), the pickup schematic shows very clearly (and correctly) the order of the 4 finger connectors on the tonearm. The L&R

I don't get it. What is a "garage system"? Surely you don't mean that you put a BeoSystem in the garage? Here, we park on the kerb in front of the house - only the ultra-wealthy have a private garage for their cars. I guess that means that if they can afford a garage, they can afford a new BeoSystem in the garage! My Beo's are
