    BeoVox 2702 cone question....

Fresh from the successful refoaming of my CX50s I decided to try and resurrect a pair of 2702s that came along with a BeoGram 1200 I bought.

After removing the first fret it was clear to see that the surround had long since perrished so I removed the driver and began to clean it up. It was only then that i noticed the tilt of the cone and how much it was rubbing. There seems to be tighter tollerances of the voice coil compared to the CX50s - although it does seem to move freely without rubbing if you get it in the 'sweet spot' - however, the cone is not level in this position.

If I refoam in this state surely the surround will pull the cone out of true and the coil will rub? - is there anything I can do to remedy this (the speaker cases and frets are in really good condition so want to try and save them).

    Hope someone can help!?

That one is destined for the bin, I think.
Shall I see if I can find another ?

Thank you Martin - tonight I'll take the other driver out and see what its condiction is. If it's in a similar state to this one then I might give up on them. If its ok, however, I might take you up on your offer of locating a replacement.

    Many thanks

    David

Well I've checked the other driver and it seems fine so I've sent you a PM Martin!

    Re: BeoVox 2702 cone question....

I'm having a similar problem with a pair of stunning 3702s. Grinding from the coil. Worse though is the spider on mine is sort of ruffled and not flat like yours.

If you receive any tips do PM me :)

    Thanks!

Check the pics of my 3702  here which type are your 3702s 6244 or 6263, if 6263 could you check the crossover and tell me, which size are the resistors and the capacitors, or/and post a pic.

Huge apologies - I only just found this reply to my comment in the 'speaker refurb' thread. Sorry but my 3702s are 6244s. They're still knackered too  :(
