does anyone of you have seen the new AUDI A4 ? It can be equipped with a complete B&O sound system for only 985,- €. The prize is redicules low compared to other systems in different cars and from different manufacturers. I.e. for the VW Golf 5 the most simple radio is about 450,- €.

Is B&O going crazy now ? What do you think ?

That means, that when I can affort buying an A4. I also will have a B&O sound system in it!

But why only Audi? I want to have it in my Mazda or Volkswagen also.

I think Audi used to have a contract with Bose - there is a Bose system in my friends TT from a few years back, perhaps they have just swaped one decent manufacturer for another.

Good marketing move imo.

Audi cars of late are seen as uber cool and trendy, Bose is more "middle aged" even though Alan Partridge did the brand no favours in one episode! should have had a bose box instead of a B&O box!! so having B&O & Bose working togther to me is a very good move for the "design conscience" among us which is a very good market!

The A4 will (like the A5 and R8) have the B&O soundsystem, but that doesn't include ALT's. If you want the ALT's you'll need to order an A8 or Q7 with the much more expensive B&O Advanced soundsystem.

Martin,

this is the extra price for the B&O speakers only. They charge you the radio (or navi), where speakers are already included. So the 985,- Euros is the price difference of the B&O system to the Kikinoko speakers. As this system is not ALT based, the price is quite fair, IMHO.

Audi still has a contract with Bose, but probably not for long. You can get a Bose sound system on the current TT. Even on the A8 the Bose system is still available.

The A6 was too far in it's development stage to fit in the B&O equipment. The current model will probably not get the B&O treatment, but it will certainly be on the options list for its successor. Of course the same is true for the A8, which was introduced before the A6. But this being a more up-market car, Audi and B&O had more possibilities both financially and in terms of space. It may only have a a few cubic millimeters or centimeters more space underneath the dashboard, but that can be a lot from a design / engineering point of view.

ok, even if 985,- € is the prize for having only the B&O speakers and amps fitted it's simply an amazing low price. At home you got only the BeoLab 4 for nearly the price of the complete car set.

Yes and I am really sad, that B&O doesn't deal with Volkswagen. Yesterday I orded my new Golf 5 GT Sport and it would be a pleasure to have B&O equipment inside.

It's £525 in the UK but there is no ALT in the A4. I have heard the Advanced Audio System in the R8 and it is truely stunning.

A4, R8 and A5 have similar Sound System (500w-12 loudspeakers-1000€ aprox).

Q7 and A8 have other system,  Advanced Sound System (1000w-14loudspeakers-6500€ aprox).

The Advanced Sound System in A8 it´s amazing, but it´s too expensive.

In Holland, where I live, it will cost € 1.560. Still not bad value, but cars and car accessories are so cheap in Germany.
