    Beovision 6-22 views

Have been given the go ahead by mrs chris to get a second television for a bedroom. Does anyone here have a 6-22 and what are your views. I could spend £600 on a newer different brand model, but can't bring myself to do it. Is brand loyalty making me cross eyed or will i love its looks and sound? 5 years old!

    Thanks in advance.

A Beovision 10-40 in black and red fret on order, Beo4, Beo6, many A8's, a pair of white and yellow Form 2's, Beocom 4, 28 inch Avant RF DVD, Apple TV and a wife that loves this stuff as much as i do!

    Hi Chris!

I bought one of these at the end of 2005 from B&O of York and kept it a good three years as a main television in my apartment.

Build quality was superb and the sound quality from such a compact television was excellent. I do remember though probably because the screen was so small that you really did have to look at it straight on and not from the slightest of angles to get the best from the picture. Remember this was early LCD technology so non HD material did look pretty grainy on it when close up. (I used Sky Digital & DVD1 on it at the time)

I really loved the set   build quality and sound i'd give it 10 out of 10 and picture probably a 7.  I think for a bedroom it would be a beautiful purchase. I am a big fan of smaller screens as I really dislike a television to dominate a room. My next purchase will be a BV10-32 although those magnets on the white speaker grilles really do show through!

I would get a CRT - far better picture and similar sound and, with the money you save, you can buy your wife a present for being so understanding. An MX makes a good bedroom set, can link well and takes up much the same space. I use an LX as the sound is better, but it is a bit bigger.

    Re: Beovision 6-22 views

    Thanks everyone.

I did read an old thread that mentioned the 23 Beocentre LCD was a step up, but i'm not sure how or why.

As for CRT's i think it would be a little large and we want to run a PC/PS3 through it. I must say our 28inch Avant RF puts out a much better picture than the non HD Beovision 5 i saw yesterday. It really was dreadful so i think i'll stay away from older LCD technology.

    Thanks again

I think you should audition the BV6, it's a lovely product and im sure you will find it good for a bedroom. I like the look of widescreen televisions, so I personally wouldn't want an old crt in my 'crib' but hey each to their own.

I bought a second hand BV6-22 from a leading B & O re-seller a few months ago and am very very impressed with it.  It is located in the bedroom and feeds BL8000 (another wonderful surprise after several false starts over my concerns over sound quality of these - but in a smaller room they are fantastic.  My wife is SO bored hearing me go on about them..!!.  Just right - we didn't want a set that dominated the room and it sits looking pretty on our chest of drawers.  I had reservations about LCD screens (albeit from observing football matches on lower-end makes of TV) but the BV6-22 is fantastic!  We have a BC1 downstairs which I will probably replace with BV7 when it dies.

    Re: Beovision 6-22 views

Thanks everyone, brilliantly i saw a 22 today as was more impressed than i thought i would be. My problem is that i have seen a 26 mk2(2009) without a stand for £1300! What do i do(please bend my arm to get it)? The 22 is very affordable, but the 26 with its improved speakers and panel really tempts me. Even Mrs Chris says i should go for it!

Hey Chris - Go for the 26 if you can afford it. As you say, the speakers are even better (must say, I was INCREDIBLY impressed with my 22 BV6 sound quality once I moved up the bass and treble settings) I'm sure you will find 26" very very suitable - very nice size!

If it helps I sold my 22" with motorised stand in 2008 for £900 (2.5yrs old) MINT MINT MINT CONDITION I wanted £1300 for it but nobody was willing to pay more than £900 so you may be able to haggle as there's no stand!!!

    Re: Beovision 6-22 views

    Hi, Chris.

I got the BV6-26" during B&O's demo sale in 2005 for HK$25,500 which is about 2,000 pounds sterling.  I am happy with it, especially the speakers/sound coming from this unit.  I would agree with the earlier comment that a CRT presents a sharper viewing image.  I had the opportunity to compare my BV-6 with my MX 8000 and the latter is sharper. [I do not have the BV-6 hooked up to HD as I have it in the bedroom and use it primarily to watch the news.]

On a practical note, the BV-6 is a dust magnet, both the screen and the black speaker cloth.

    Hope this helps.

    Wings

PS:  In this instance, listen to the wife!  :)  ;)

Thanks very much. I have put in an offer and am waiting to see if its accepted! Ironically Wings i have just sent my CV to Hong Kong. Could i use a UK Beovision 6 in Hong Kong? I think they use the same Voltage etc but now have a different 3 pin plug, is that true?

The gent who owned it is just about to go into a home, and his wife only needs their main TV. This has been sat in in a study for 5 years basically doing nothing. They wanted £1500 but i bid £1200 and they accepted. Considering its as new, and comes with a remote stand and Beo 4 i'm bloody chuffed.

As for the gent that owned it, who was a bit of a B&O fanatic, i feel like dropping off an Ipod and a pair of A8's at his retirement homeSad

    Re: Beovision 6-22 views

It all sounds good. I also need to get a BV6 again as my first B&O purchase on these shore was a BV6 - although I ordered it from my old UK dealer as I didn't want to wait the 3 months for one in NZ and the UK dealer shipped one out and got here just 3 days later! Smile

I have to agree I'm not a fan of a living room becoming a TV room, although I do think B&O should have made a BV6 32, that would have been great!

Oh well better go surf lifestyle AV for BV6 26's then Wink

I am not certain as I haven't been back to the UK for quite some time.  The latest plugs being used in Hong Kong are three blades arranged in an triangular disposition.  The top blade is verticle and the bottom two blades are horizontal.  Hope this helps.  If not, do you want me to check with the Hong Kong B&O?  Alternatively, would an adopter work?

Yes, the BV6 is a beautifully designed TV. Perhaps a more natural replacement for the classic LX/MX than the more individual BV8?

I think larger 32 and 40 inch versions would have sold well in the more traditionally furnished homes including mine but B&O obviously think otherwise.

    Re: Beovision 6-22 views

If they had made a 6-32 it would have been a perfect introduction into B&O, and they wouldn't have had to get so drunk the night they designed the Beovision 8Erm
