    MP3 & WMA.

. According to the documentation, WMA files up to 192, MP3 files up to 320. If you rip MP3 files with LAME encoding, I find that is a very nice recording that will play anywhere. For years I have used CDEX, a free utility, then sucked them into iTunes for use with iDevices. I dont use iTunes for building SD cards, buts that's just me. Updated BS4 software allows 8G card. Not sure of spec.

    BeoSound4 in Standby

    Press menu.

Turn wheel to select "set up" & press go.

    Press 0 0 go.

Turn wheel to navigate in the service menu.

1 in service menu is software version.

The latest software for BeoSound4 is 2.15. This gives the new features as described in the supplemental instruction book that can be downloaded from the Bang & Olufsen website.

    Bonne annee, Tony!

For SW2.01 2Gb is the limit.

Depending on the Ser.# of your BSd4 :

An update requires either just a new SW via ServiceTool of your dealer/service
or an additional change of EEPROM before updating the SW.

    Re: BS4 SD file types

    Hi Tony

    Please check your current AP-SW-Version:

    Menu -> Setup… -> Options… press [0 + 0 + GO] -> SW versions…

IF: AP-SW is 2.01 or higher

THEN: only an update to AP 2.15 / Codec 04 version 1.31 will be necessary (via service tool)
    costs: approx 1/2 hour = +/- 40 EUR

ELSE: first a HW-Upgrade (exchange) of the EEPROM (new EEPROM containing SW 32.15 or higher )
followed by an update to Codec 04 version 1.31 will be necessary (via service tool)
    costs: approx 1,5 hours + EEPROM = +/- 140 EUR

    Vienna

    You're a gent sir!

    brilliant, sw version is 2.01a!

Now to get the upgrade will apparently cost me more to drive the 300km roundtrip to Rennes than the actual cost of the upgrade - lifes sweet isn't it - hey ho!

    again thanks for your efforts!
