    Beovox 2500 Cube - ConnectionBox

I had a request from a customer - he would like to connect the very beautiful designed Beovox 2500 Cube speakers from 1967 directly to an amplifier. The question: is that possible or will the Cube be destroyed.

The answer is of course,  Yes – this is not possible.

But I found a solution for this customer; I am designing a small connection box with a crossover filter optimized for Beovox 2500 Cube.

The Cube speaker is designed for the frequency range over 2 kHz, so this connection, box does not mean you can use the cube speaker as the only speaker for a system, but you can use it as a high tone speaker, which is what B&O designed it for.

I will bring the diagram of the connection box here in a couple of days, perhaps it could be useful for others too?

Re: Beovox 2500 Cube - ConnectionBox

I have a 1960s catalogue that lists the few different Beosystems that were available then.  One of these - the Beosystem 900K  lists the Beogram 1000, Beomaster 900K and the Beovox 2500 as the "extra" speakers".  They were also used for the Beovox 5000, Beolab 500, Beogram 1800 as the Beosystem 5000.  The former is just using the standard speakers outputs as the 900k had no special crossover etc.

You are right, B&O sometimes suggested that and many people also just 'tried to do so'. Yhis is why so many Beovox 2500 Cube have 'burned' speaker units - about 25%.

    My proposal

For a safe connection of Beovox 2500 Cube speaker to any amplifier output. Use a small connectionbox with a crosover like filter.

See the circ uit below.  I tried to upload a PDF file - but I could not fint out how (sorry)
