Is there an easy fix for this problem?  Everything sounds great until the tone arm crosses 1/3 of the album then the outside edge of album starts dragging on the top of the deck which slows the deck down.

There are three adjustment screws with leaf springs for the platter height.
I suggest you adjust them and set the platter apprx 1mm above the surrounding aluminum surface.
They can be accessed by lifting off the platter. The platter lifts straight up but will often bind drastically.
