    Old service sticker

Wonder if it would be possible to approximate when my Master 38K was last serviced in Copenhagen?

    Re: Old service sticker

It was a long time ago, that's for sure.

The phone number Vester 127 tells a little in that it refers to the manual central "Vester" for the West
part of the bridge quarters of Copenhagen.
Some parts of Copenhagen were among the first parts of Denmark to be automated, other parts were the last.
Vester was a demi- (= half-) automatic central which meant that clients would dial the first two digits (here:"VE") and then
you told the nice lady the number 127 and she would put you through.
You only needed to dial "VE" if you were not in the same area as that particular central.

The first demi-automatic central came in 1927 and the last one was taken down as late as 1978.
This shop had both a Vester number and a (higher) Central number, suggesting that we are not very early
    within this period.

From the type of label, the fonts used etc. I would say around 1950.
Look inside and see if there are any other indications. It was not uncommon for the serviceman to put dates
on valves and other essential components when they were replaced.

Where that radio repairshop was, is now a scooter repairshop.

It also looks like it has at least 3 layers of service stickers

Each one a slice of history !

Would be wonderful to be able to peel them back ... but probably too destructive

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Thanks Martin, that was a lot more information than I had hoped for Smile I'll take a better look inside when I get this moving business out of the way, I just had not properly thought about this sticker before. It would be mindblasting to hear the stories these old sets have heard. Probably some family listened to the news on this radio, worried as the war got closer and closer.

Funny how the advanced parts of the country sometimes were too advanced. Some areas in Helsinki where still running on DC power in the 1960's - having been the first places to receive electricity decades earlier.

Nice... here is my more recent and less exotic service tag on my Beocenter 1600 that is sitting partially rebuilt. How  I came about it is a long story involving flight cases from Chicago.

Obviously a well travelled set that still had the European style plug-in when I took possesion.

    Eugene,
Oh, so it was you who bought that case from Thomas in Illinois.
Yes, that set has travelled around a bit.
If I remember correctly, there were one or two more things in the same case, right ?
    Whistle
At least that service sticker tells the date.

Yes it was -  that is where I got my BM 2000 there was also a BC 2600. Of the three the BC 1600 was the only set that actually worked and was in the best condition.

The BM 2000 basicaslly fell apert when I opened her up to look inside and the BC 2600 is a wreck both inside and out. Only really good for parts.

Oh, no, you are NOT allowed to part out anything.  I expect full rebuilds with full details and photographs published on this site!

Especially if it completes the set!!!  Devil

    Current primary listening:  SMMC20EN -> BG4002 -> BM4000 -> Beovox M70
