• Re: How does the Beogram TX compare?

I agree that the TX really is an underrated deck. It is really a Beogram 6002 without the Datalink module and with a captive RCA cable, belt driven and very much like a late Beogram 4000 series deck under the hood IMO, the TX is better than the later Beogram 5005 and upards models.

One of my old friends who is also 18 years old like me has become very interested in old-school stuff. She went nuts when I told her that I could use a slide rule and begged me to learn her how to make all arithmetic operations.
Wait a minute, so your telling me I can

That "pepper grinder" sure looks interesting, a very clever piece of engineering My 60-year-old physics teacher (mid-level in upper secondary school) became totally nostalgic when he saw my Mannheim slide rule. He have had a very similar one, but it disappeared in the 70's when he bought a TI calculator instead. He could still remember

  • Re: Should I leave the Beocenter 9500 to a workshop before using it?

Congratulations with your speaker purchase, they are nice (have a pair myself with my Beocenter 9300). The RL6000 descends from the older RedLine 60 and 60.2, though the speaker units are maginally different. The speaker membanes are made of rubber, so I don't expect them to have any tendencies to rot.

  • Re: Beogram TX Platter replacement?

The TX2 uses a Beogram 6002 platter, which is a Beogram 8002 platter with a little different rubber inlay patten. You can also use a Beogram 8000/6006 platter if you like.

  • Re: MMC cartidge lifespan?

Normally, the suspension will fail before total wear of the diamond tip. The suspension hardens with age and induces all sorts of negative effects: distortion, bass-lacking sound and the needle itself might fall off. I have only encountered one of five original MMCx cartridges that still work. When (not if ) the cart fails, you have the option of re
