Restorated by Axel Schühholz in may 2011. This is equipped with the €179.- option, shibata diamond on a sapphire needle, flawless. I have used it for approximately 25 hours. This MMC6000 is capable of tracking CD-4 quadrophonic records, as the very fine shibata diamond resembles the one used in the MMC5000 cartridge. The cartridge will be

Paul: I have a Beogram 4000, and my Father has one too; two working examples in good condition in one house I prefer a test with rythmic music, though I like some classical pieces. My interest had grown rather unusually from symphonic death metal.

I did also buy the new 180 gram version of Wish You Were Here, my old copy was played to death! Sounds good and very detailed. I have a €99 option (elliptical), two €159 (aluminum cantilever, MMC2 specs) and one €179 (shibata). I might throw up a review sometime, done on Beogram 4000 with the old MMC20-series I have and a Beogram 8002
Just to add some info, I have a BeoGram 5500 with a BeoCenter 9000 and the Beogram works remotely and automatically.
Ahh, forgot about the 5005/5500, I even had one myself once

The Beocenter 9000 works with all beograms without built in RIAA preamplifier. You can remote control the Beogram if it is one of the newer models (after ca. 1980). Beograms equipped with Datalink which will enable remote control of functions: Beogram 8000, 8002, 6006, 6002(start/stop only), 3000, 9000, 3300, 9500 and 8500.

Congratulations Kyle! Welcome to the forum, you've really caught the Beovirus! If you are happy about the sound of the 5000, you really should try a Beomaster 8000 or a 4400. The amplifier designs are similar, but more powerful and (in the 8000) much more headroom because of the giant power supply B&O tangential tracking record decks are also

Congratulations with the Beogram, you'll not regret the purchase. Retipped MMC2's by Axel is, in my opinion, his best sounding option

The MMCx series are known to have suspension failure due to age. I would recommend to get it retipped at Axel Schürholz in Germany. It's cheaper than buying a new one at Sound Smith. Axel has done 6 MMC cartridges for me, and they are all done in very good quality. He opens the cartrigde, replaces the suspension (rubber) and puts on the needle

The Beogram 1602 is as far as I know a North American version of a Beogram 1902. It's a very fine linear tracking turntable and I like the simplicity compared to the B&O tangential decks. Well-tracking and a good cartridge selection which is easy to find cheap in good condition.
