  • Re: 4004 - 2 Issues (Warble & Distortion)

Medogsfat: I would certainly wait until the new belts are fitted before going any further than simple investigations. One small point - the recommended tracking weight for the MMC20EN is 1.2g not 1.0 (this was for the MMC20CL), assuming it is an original B&O item then you may need to up it a little as it will be quite aged by now. The cartridge

  • Re: 4004 Adjustment issues - Platter too low (rubbing belt)

OK - then it looks like my only adjustment to raise the platter (without changing the distance between platter and detector arm) , is what I have done already? Is there any other tweak or adjustment that can be made? Is there maybe some parts that have worn causing it to sag?

Well, the platter being below the rest of the unit is not being cause by a tight belt, since you check this adjustment with the belt off. If anything, the new belt seemed perhaps a little loose to my liking, but definitely not too tight. However, adjusting the center bearing up as you suggest, won't this also shorten the correct 23mm measurement

  • 4004 Adjustment issues - Platter too low (rubbing belt)

I got 4004 recently, and the last thing I did was replace the belts. There is a problem that I had before, and has gotten worse now. Basically the platter is not flush with the top of the unit, and as a result, the bottom of the platter rubs on the belt, causing it to slap a bit and cause noise. So I got out the service manual, and followed 3-1; mainly

  • 2400 or 2400-2 with my Beogram 4004?

If this is the wrong board, I apologize. I want to use my Beogram 4004 with a B&O system that has remote control. In the US, the 2400s come up with remote from time to time, but the 2400-2s are harder to come by. Do I definitely need the 2400-2 to have remote control functions to the 4004? Are the remotes that came with the 2400 vs. 2400-2 different

  • 4004 - 2 Issues (Warble & Distortion)

I have a Beogram 4004 which has a MMC20EN cartridge, and I think it is in good shape. After lubricating the pivot points, the unit now works quite well except for two very specific issues, which are kind of weird: 1. If starting a 33 from the beginning, always at about 1/4 of the way into the record it begins to warble (like a cassette tape going bad

  • Re: Beogram 4002 problem

Peter: It needs cleaning - there is a damper cylinder that has silicon fluid in it and which gums up. manually moving the arm up and down when released might get it working but it needs cleaning and refilling. The service manual is on site for both types of 4002. I recently also got a 4004, and had the very common problem as others where the tone arm
