• Re: Bang and Olufsen Outsourced

John – It is so blatantly obvious that you are Jonathan and have just changed your name as you promised not to contribute anymore. If the B&O 7-40 is “made in Czech” then it is a “Czech made TV, which was designed by a Danish company.” How can something be “made in Czech” and be considered “Danish
Once an English company is sold to another country, that company is no longer an English company. For example Lotus. Do you think the profits from Lotus go to an English company? Or do they go to a Malaysian company? Lotus WAS an english company, but has since been sold and has become a MALAYSIAN company. B&O produce
the fact that they're foreign owned makes them NOT english companies
Why can't an English company be owned by a foreign company or person and still be English through and through? In fact BMW doesn't consider RR German and neither does RR consider itself a German car, same with Proton not considering
and BMW engines in Rolls?? Skoda is now German Holden is American If your arguement is to where it is manufactured, then the Beosound 8 and Beolit 12 makes B&O a Chinese company!
Jonathan – That is the most flawed logic I have ever heard. Most B&O products are not made in China, so no B&O

Puncher – My point about Czech wasn't just about ability. Although they currently have a successful and thriving manufacturing industry of their own with their own cars such as Skoda as well as very high quality bohemian paper products and Czech crystal. My point was about fair wages, benefits, EU labour laws, and of course proximity as you

Jonathan – I actually know a lot about manufacturing both in China and many other countries. As mentioned I visited dozens of factories and workshops in the past few years, I wrote my dissertation on the topic and did a years of research on it and I have many friends and acquaintances that have their own factories and manufacture their own products
Am I correct in summarisng the above as - add more features, use more expensive materials, assemble at European rates and increase the price of an £875 iPod dock accordingly? Surely this would be a dock for existing customers only .............. at best! How would a £1000+ iPod dock attract the new customers

Jonathan – I have yet to see any products that even match the standards, much less exceed them coming out of China. The reason I said better, is because it should be better in order for me to want to buy it from China rather than from my own country or from Europe which is established in high quality manufacture. I don't only buy American

My point is...

I thought I made my point clear throughout this discussion. In fact I have more than one point which I summerised in some of my statements. I agree with Steffan and Bentleyman that B&O might make a lot of money from this outsourcing but if they start to
So would you buy a high end Chinese label that's made in China?
If I felt it was made to better standards, better quality, with better materials than an equivilent product in Developed countries. If the company were completely transparent about their manufacturing process and product and materials used
